The Joy of Running

Oh the joy of running. What is it about running that attracts so many, compels so much obsessional behaviour and turns it into such a drug?

*The sheer agony of it all?

*The shortness of breath in the hot, gasping lung?

* The debilitating muscle cramps and joint aches?

* The intense fear of failure?

The Open Road!

Maybe it is the joy of the 'open road', the freedom, the mind numbing ability of running to nullify the most potent of damning days in the office. Whatever it is if you run you get it and if you don't then you probably don't.

A Breed Apart

Runners are without doubt a breed on their own and you can spot one a mile away before they enter your company. I should know I have treated so many. They will be the first to admit that their chosen pastime that began as a 'suck it and see' soon became 'love me love my running.' It becomes the major thing in life around which everything else has to fit.

Other sports, barring top level competitors, do not seem to have such an influence over participamts with the possible exception of bodybuilding.

Whatever it has it is as popular as ever. It has great health benefits, physically and psychologically and on top of it all raises millions for charity each year.

If you are experiencing the joy of running or are thinking of starting then see our main running page.

Maybe you have an injury worry or training issue.
