Specificity
What is specificity
An impressive word I am using to mean that in essence every sport or training is very different in terms of its demands on your body. Fitness and being fit are terms frequently banded around with little thought as to their actual meaning. What specificity tells you is that being fit to play soccer, for example, is a great deal different than being fit to play badminton. If you don't believe me, try it. If you consider yourself fit go out and attempt to perform a training session or a game involving another sport. Don't be too concerned with how you cope technically or how you cope from a cardio-vascular point of view. From this last perspectives you may feel relatively comfortable. Wait until the next day and judge then how you feel as you get out of bed. It is highly likely that you will ache in places you had forgotten existed.
Why is this?
Simply because you have been using muscle groups that are SPECIFIC for a particular sport ot activity. Hence I rest my case TRAINING, SPORT AND ACTIVITY ARE HIGHLY SPECIFIC. And the point is?
Well how about looking for a new challenge. Taking a totally different tack and developing a new set of skills, muscles and techniques that make you think, challenge you and make you climb up that exhilerating old learning curve once more. Enjoy!
