TENDONITIS

Tendonitis is the condition of inflammation in a tendon. Inflammation is discussed in great detail on our inflammation page.

A tendon is a structure that links a muscle to a bone. They are responsinble for transmitting the pull produced by a contracting muscle to the bone they fix into to create movement. Their involvement in movement production means that they can be commonly injured.

They can be injured by a single excessive force or lower level repetitive forces. Whatever the cause the result is an inflamed structure that is painful and does not do its job properly.
